Y4 Multiplication Tables Check

At Dodford First School, we are committed to helping every child develop confidence and fluency in their multiplication tables.

The Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) is a statutory assessment taken by all Year 4 pupils in June. It is designed to assess how confidently children can recall their times tables up to 12 × 12. The check is completed online and consists of 25 multiplication questions, with six seconds allowed to answer each question.

Throughout the year, we support our children in developing their times tables knowledge through engaging lessons, regular practice and fun activities. Our aim is to ensure that every child feels confident, well-prepared and positive about their learning.

How can you help at home?

Regular, short bursts of times tables practice can make a big difference! Playing multiplication games, practising quick-fire questions and using Times Tables Rock Stars are all fantastic ways to support your child's learning.

We want every child to approach the check with confidence and recognise that it is just one small part of their mathematical journey. At Dodford First School, we celebrate effort, progress and achievement in all areas of mathematics.
