Mental Health & Wellbeing

At Dodford First School, we recognise that positive mental health and wellbeing are essential to helping every child thrive, both in school and beyond. We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where all children feel valued, listened to and understood. We believe that when children feel happy, secure and emotionally supported, they are better equipped to learn, develop positive relationships and reach their full potential.

Mental health and wellbeing are at the heart of our school community. We aim to promote a culture of kindness, respect and understanding, where children feel confident expressing their emotions, sharing their worries and seeking support when they need it. Through our everyday interactions, curriculum and wider school experiences, we encourage children to develop emotional awareness, resilience, self-confidence and the skills needed to manage life's challenges.

We understand that every child is unique and that their emotional needs may change as they grow and develop. At Dodford First School, we strive to ensure that every child knows there is always someone they can turn to. By fostering positive relationships between children, staff and families, we aim to create an environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and knows that their wellbeing matters.

We also recognise the importance of supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our staff, parents and carers. A happy, healthy and supportive school community benefits everyone, and we believe that working together is key to promoting positive mental health. We encourage open communication and strong partnerships with families to ensure that children receive consistent care, encouragement and support both at home and at school.

Our commitment is to help every child feel safe, happy, confident and ready to learn. By placing mental health and wellbeing at the centre of our school ethos, we aim to equip our children with the emotional skills, positive attitudes and resilience they need to flourish throughout their time at Dodford First School and as they continue their journey through life.

At Dodford First School, we believe that every mind matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and every child deserves to feel supported.
